BEYOND THE WALL OF RESISTANCE: Valuable Resources for Leading Change

Did you know that 70% of all change initiatives in organizations fail? This glaring statistic is on the front cover of Rick Maurer’s book: Beyond the Wall of Resistance.

Over the years I’ve read many books on personal and organizational change.  Rick has written a clear, comprehensive, overview of many of the popular change theories and methods. He’s done a nice job of integrating these into a  guide that is very readable and practical.

In short he’s summarized much of the existing information on change and transition and made it accessible.

What Rick has also done is include excerpts from interviews that he has conducted with many of the leading  experts in the field of change, for example:

  • Peter Block
  • Geoffrey Bellman
  • Carolyn Lukensmeyer
  • Robert Kegan
  • Margaret Wheatley
  • Lisa Laskow Lahey

Finally, Rick has created a website, filled it with some great resources for leading change, and makes reference to these resources as he moves through the book.  There’s something for everyone here!

 You can find Rick at

Thanks to Coach Debbie Kemp for introducing me to Rick’s book.
